First Aid Class Course Modules

You can learn several skill sets when taking a first aid class. Most of these skills are helpful in any and every situation.

Here is the course outline:

1. Brief Introduction to First Aid

We provide a quick and informative introduction to the importance, purpose, and goal of taking a first aid class. Given its crucial and delicate condition during emergencies, we also discuss its legal and ethical considerations. Lastly, we help individuals visualize different medical scenarios, which is highly beneficial for beginners.

2. NARCAN Administration

We provide training in Layperson Naloxone (NARCAN) administration. Effectively teaching our students how to recognize signs, quickly respond, and administer Naloxone (opioid overdose reversal drug) properly. In addition, we also put emphasis on the role of NARCAN administration in the reduction of an opioid health crisis.

3. EpiPen Administration

Severe allergic reactions and anaphylaxis can happen anytime, anywhere. As a result, we train students to correctly spot signs & symptoms and execute proper EpiPen to the victim. Proper administration can help save the life of the victim as they wait for the emergency medical team to respond and give them proper care.

4. Proper Tourniquet Application

We ensure that students are equipped with the knowledge on the proper application of tourniquet bands. With proper execution, you can help slow down uncontrollable bleeding during severe medical emergencies. It’s crucial for first responders to apply a tourniquet immediately while waiting for the emergency medical team to arrive.

5. Bleeding Control

Bleeding control is one of the most critical first aid class skills that prepare individuals to distinguish, spot, act, and control life-threatening bleeding. We teach students how to handle extreme medical situations through proven techniques and care.

6. Proper Care for Burns & Scalds

Burn or scald accidents are unpredictable and cause immense pain. As a result, we provide useful training for students on how to identify the different levels of burns and scalds. Together with this, we teach various techniques to properly provide first aid care to help minimize the damage.

7. Managing Critical Situations

Other types of critical situations require immediate first aid response. The majority of these situations can happen as we go about our days. Our curriculum involves identifying, assessing, and handling the problem depending on the level of necessity.

Some of these critical situations include:

  • Choking (infant, child, adult)
  • Poisoning
  • Seizures
  • Heat Stroke
  • Hypothermia

8. Psychological First Aid Care

The occurrence of emergencies can put victims in shock and distress. Providing proper and genuine psychological first-aid care is essential in helping victims navigate the trauma of what just happened. We ensure that students understand the importance of offering genuine care, empathy, and psychological assistance.
